This is one of the ExEds that allows me to express my culture the most. In the beginning, I was intimidated by the fact that we had to do auditions to get into the Exed, but when I got in, I had the goal of representing my culture as much as I could. One issue that I initially found was the fact that the Exed didn’t represent all the African countries in terms of the origin of the songs. However, our leaders did a great choice of letting us suggest songs that we would like to sing this year. And indeed we did learn a new song to perform at the Youth Detention Center, the rededication of the Mandela Garden, the Music Winter and Spring Concerts and for the annual conference. Because they allowed us to make suggestions for the songs, this is the Exed that feels the closest to home for me.
